Distractions

I love playing with my grandchildren. I giggle at how easily distracted they can be. First of all, if they are playing with something and I pick up another toy and begin to play with it…guess what? They soon want the toy I’m playing with. It looks like more fun. If I pick up yet another toy and make it look oh so interesting…they promptly throw their toy to the ground and crawl or walk over to take my current toy.

I can also easily distract them if they are upset for some reason. Maybe they don’t feel like eating or maybe they are upset because mommy is going out to run errands. I simply use my voice and really get into “something” and boom…they are by my side…distracted and all can be right with their world again. I love these little ones more that words can say.

On the other hand, as an adult I want to not be distracted, especially in my walk with the Lord. I want to fun towards Him and with Him excitedly with eyes focused. I desire for Him to quickly show me the distractions that are in my life so that I do not linger there.

What distracts you today? Is it getting in the way of bigger and better priorities?

Help us Lord to hunger and thirst after you. Fill us today Lord as You desire to accomplish much through us. May our attitudes, schedules, and attention be pleasing to you this day Lord.

“Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”

Matthew 5:6
