New Beginnings

Moving to New Jersey was exciting and frightening all at the same time. I believed with all my heart that it was the direction God had for our family. It didn’t make it easy. We had so many close friends when we lived in the Pittsburgh area. In fact they literally circled around us before we drove away and prayed a prayer of blessing over us. Family were just minutes away. Would God ever be able to bless us with as many devoted friends as we had prior to our move?

It was my challenge to make New Jersey our home, my home.

It is now 19 1/2 years later and I can say that New Jersey is home. God has helped us not only to keep up our Pittsburgh friendships, but He also gave us wonderful friends right here in NJ. He says HE will never leave me or forsake me. He says that in His Word. He didn’t mind telling Joshua (the leader of the Israelites) to be courageous and not be afraid. I don’t think God would have wasted his words on Joshua if Joshua had not been afraid and discouraged. God still chose him to lead His children into their promised land. We don’t have to be perfect in God’s sight, just willing. He is ever so patient with us.

Is God asking you to trust Him with something new in your life?

Are you afraid, even perhaps terrified? Cling to Him. Obey Him. Read His precious Words to You. He is with you in this change that He calls you to

Joshua 1:6-9

“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you: Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord you God will be with you wherever you go.”
