The Bigger Picture

I enjoy working with my camera and capturing pictures (moments in time).

There are those who are so much better than myself, and that might be why I enjoy looking at their photography websites. I love the pictures they’ve captured and the creative way they present their finished product.

It might be a landscape and the reflection of the moon appears just perfect in the waters. A field of wildflowers bending ever so slightly…I feel as though somehow I should be able to smell their scent by just looking at the picture. Sometimes we capture an expression or better yet the wrinkled hands of someone we cherish and love.

I never captured my grandmother’s hands on camera and for that I am sorry. I can however see them quite clearly in my mind as she would use them to roll out pie dough. I loved watching her hands at work in the kitchen.

If we are fortunate enough to capture a particular moment in time on camera, I often find that no matter how good the photographer, we can never truly capture it all.

The camera sees what is right in front of us. It is short sighted.

In order to get the bigger picture we might need to back up.

Similarly, there are times when we might feel confused as if maybe God has failed us in some way. We might not understand why He is allowing something to happen in our lives. We can’t see the big picture or the real picture. We’re short sighted. We’re scrambling to make sense of what we can “see”.

God’s Word is 100% true and not one Word has ever failed.

The Bible is seamless. It’s really one beautiful story from Genesis to Revelation. Each prophecy given in the Old Testament becomes fulfilled in the New Testament.

The entire Bible points to Jesus, the Messiah, the Chosen One, Savior, and Redeemer.

God has given us the ability to have peace within our trials and confusion.

God doesn’t ask us to “get Him”. He asks us to “trust Him”.

He is All Powerful.

He is Holy.

He is Love.

All three work together.

So when life is not making sense and you can’t seem to make sense of what is in front of you…take a step back…dig into God’s Word and let Him make sense as you trust Him step by step.

Allow Him in His time to show you the bigger picture.

2 Peter 1:9

“But if anyone does not have them, (faith, goodness, knowledge, self control & perseverance) he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.”

Joshua 23:14b

“You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.”
