My daughter tells me the sweet story of her son talking with his now
4-year-old friend the other day.
“Do you know much about policemen? Cuz I do?”
His friend answers with maybe two facts:
“Yes, they have handcuffs and they protect us”.
She said her son looked at her with wide eyes and announced that his friend did indeed know a lot about policemen!
And I don’t know about you, but I can relate!
I might think I know something…studied something…really sought to understand it and then someone else says what they’ve learned from it or what stood out to them and I’m amazed!
It’s that little glimmer of “light”.
A new way to see something. A new or fresh understanding.
A hands on experience.
God’s Word is living, active, and alive.
As we read it…there is none like it.
Other books can be read from beginning to end and that’s it. They sit on the shelf.
God’s Word will always have more to teach me…to shine understanding on…to shed light on a situation that I’m having trouble grasping.
My latest “glimpse” came the other day.
I read the Bible and most Bible scholars would say that we are living in the “end times”. I await the return of Jesus and I believe He will return just as He has said.
The new thought I had is this.
It will just be the beginning!
Eternity…the new heaven and the new earth…the new Jerusalem that is spoken of in Revelations 21 hasn’t started yet.
I think of all the generations that have lived before me…starting with Adam and Eve and I’m on the latter half right? Not really.
Eternity will be forever and ever and ever.
We will see Him and live face to face as was His original intent.
He will wipe away every sorrow. We will understand in full.
It will be the beginning…not the end.
Anyway…now you can say your friend must really know a lot about eternity.
We are all on the same page.
May we seek Him and know Him more each day until the beginning of days begins!
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
“There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign forever and ever.”
