One of my favorite things to do on a summer evening is to swim in our pool. Often I am out there by myself doing my slow kick, which turns into lap after lap. I can’t help but to look up at the clouds and worship. I so often just begin to hum or sing to Him right there in my pool as I swim lap after lap.
I remember when my daughter was about a year old. She would walk holding onto our hands. We had taken her to a park to swing on the swings and to slide down the slide. Her favorite part at this playground happened to be the leaves. The fall leaves that had fallen onto the ground were beautiful in color and crunched beneath her little shoes. She was in awe.
Recently I held my granddaughter in my arms as I walked slowly through my neighborhood. She loved looking at the flowers in nearby yards. She loved touching a soft evergreen bush. She hushed and listened as I told her I could hear the birds chirping. She’s almost a year old, but she knew enough to hush and listen. She too was in awe of the creation around her.
Oh Lord, help us to be in awe of You today. Help us to see You and the Creation around us which You have made. May it never get old to us.
