I smile as I fondly remember teaching my children to swim. We often joined a local swim club in the summer and went on a regular basis. There is just nothing like a lazy summer day, sitting in the sun, by a wonderfully refreshing pool and playing with your children.
My children are adults now, but back then
each wanted my undivided attention all at the same time.
“Mommy, watch me swim all the way across the pool”
“Mommy watch me dive”
“Mommy watch me go off the diving board”
“Mommy watch me do a somersault underwater”
The statement alone wasn’t enough. My children were constantly twisting their little necks around to make sure I was watching. Basically, I wasn’t allowed to take my eyes off of them for even an instant.
I did my best, but obviously I couldn’t watch all three budding Olympians at the same time at the very same moment.
BUT, God can! He doesn’t take His eyes off of us. We are the apple of His eye and He is with us every step of the way. He doesn’t need to put us on pause so He can watch someone else. He is omnipresent.
Oh, Lord…Keep your eyes on me and watch my every move. Keep me from the devil’s snares and lead me in Your ways each and every day.
“He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of His eye.”
“…for whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye”
“Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings”
