There will always be a “teacher” in me.
It started from about the age of five, when I would play “school”.
I would teach whoever would listen and sometimes it was just my dolls!
As the air turns a bit crisper outside, my thoughts turn to “school”…even though I’ve been retired now for 4 years.
I had a dream the other night about setting up my classroom.
Teachers everywhere are doing just that.
They are decorating classrooms that will welcome little faces into them and that will hopefully motivate children to desire to learn.
Teachers are preparing lesson plans and learning stations.
They are coming up with themes for their new school year.
Students are out shopping with parents for “back to school” supplies.
It’s a fun time of year (spoken from a woman with a teacher’s heart)!
As a teacher, I would often give homework assignments.
I taught the younger grades and was never in favor of a lot of homework so
my nightly assignment might have been to read a parent a portion of a story or perhaps do the backside of a math worksheet.
They were little assignments.
Assignments that were meant to involve the child and the parent.
The child should get a 100% on the math page that went home.
I wanted the parent to sit with the child and correct mistakes and teach along side of their child.
That’s Our Heavenly Father’s heart too.
He has assignments for us each day.
It might be something small like sending an encouraging note to someone that He puts on your heart.
It might be to send a care package to someone who is off at college.
The assignment might be to babysit a small child for a young mom for a few hours.
The assignment might be to pray for someone that God puts on your heart.
I don’t know what your assignment is.
In fact, I don’t know mine either!
It’s a brand new day and I do not know all that awaits me.
I do know that I desire to keep my eyes open and complete each assignment that He gives me today. I desire to be used by Him in big and small ways. I want to reflect Him as I go about this day.
The best part of our Heavenly assignment is that we don’t have to do those alone either!
God has placed His Holy Spirit within us (His children) and He has promised to never leave us or forsake us.
He walks in and through the assignments with us.
I hope you score 100% today!
1 John 2:17
“The world and it’s desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever”
2 Corinthians 8:5
“And they exceeded our expectations: they gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us”
