A “Me” Kind of Day

Did you ever just need a “me” kind of day?

I know I do.

Maybe it’s a manicure kind of day or a gardening kind of day, or a sit back and read a good book kind of day.

Sometimes we just need a reminder that we are loved.

My “middle” grandson needed something for just “him” today.

His mother put on some music in the house because it soothes her newborn to sleep.

As she turned on the music, her middle son asked her

“Mommy, is that for me?”

She dearly responded “yes” it is.  He also loves music and often asks me to sing to him.

In that moment he needed a little reassurance.

He didn’t request a hug or to be held.

He just needed to know in his little heart that someone (his mommy) knew his little needs and she would meet them.

She knows him.

She is familiar with his ways.

Often she knows his needs better than he knows his own needs.

Today, when he asked that simple question, she knew him well enough to make him feel very very special.

I love how unique we each are.

I love how God knows us intimately, in fact better than we know ourselves.

As I went about my day today, I tried to open my eyes to the special things that God was doing “just for me”.

Here are a few that I came up with:

He gave me a day all to myself. He knew how much I needed a day like today.

I cooked a nice meal and actually enjoyed cooking it.

I worked in my yard and completed a project.

I straightened up the house from yesterday’s pool party.

I daydreamed a bit as I looked through decorating magazines.

While I worked in the yard, I noticed that it was not too hot or too cold outside. It was just a perfect day to do yard work. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the shade of my yard working with my dog lying peacefully in the grass next to me.

As I used the electric clippers, God spared me from cutting a wire!

I was just a few inches from it when I noticed.

He opened my eyes to it and I’m so very thankful!

My husband decided to have lunch on the patio.

He usually has lunch in his home office, but today I joined him with a glass of ice water and chatted. It was a special treat.

Know today that you are dearly loved.

God loves you and He knows you.

He desires to not only meet your needs today, but to bless you along the way.

Let Him in and hear Him say

“yes, this is for you”.

Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…”

Song of Songs 6:9

“but my dove, my perfect one, is unique…”

Psalm 139:1

“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me”

John 10:14

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me”
