Hold Me Close

IMG-1194

My grandsons love me.

I know they do, but when grandpa is around…well,

It must be all that testosterone in the air!

They shout his name and begin to jump and crash and climb. They are so very excited when he gets to join me for a visit!

The other day I was visiting alone, but needed to call “grandpa” on the phone for a minute. My two- year- old grandson noticed and he came over and wanted to “see” grandpa. I clicked onto facetime and there appeared grandpa’s smiling face.

This little boy could not get that phone close enough to his body.

All my husband could see on his end was a bit of hair from his head.

This particular grandson is very snuggly.

He held that phone as close as he could. His grandpa’s face was pretty much touching his (via phone).

Often I will be sitting and he will come over to me and pull my shirt just off my shoulder. He then lays his sweet head skin to skin on my shoulder.  He calls it “sticky”.

He likes to be “sticky” with those he loves.

He cannot get close enough!

His mama had to recently move the little beds in the boys bedroom.

Why? Well, this little guy would often crawl into his brother’s bed during the night.

Me…I love the feel of his little body next to mine.

His brother, not so much!

How close do you like to get?

How close is too close?

Proverbs 18:24

“There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother”

I’m thankful that Jesus sticks close.

His Spirit abides within those who’ve asked.

He promises to never leave us or forsake us.

Deuteronomy 31:6

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
